My kids in a nutshell: lying on Thomas sheets with a Thomas stuffed animal, Mickey and Minnie, a monkey, and a Thomas catalog. He is cheesing and she is gazing at him adoringly. My boy is 3 and a half years old. He is exceptionally tall and looks like a 5 year old. This makes the whole potty situation seem even worse. For the last three and a half years, Jeremy has VIOLENTLY refused to have anything to do with the potty. Then, out of nowhere, this past weekend my 18th try at putting him in underwear/naked finally paid off. He peed in the potty 8 times, pooped in the potty once, and even wore his Thomas underwear to the bookstore and Kroger. And, he peed in the public toilet in Kroger. No accidents. Who is this kid? Sunday was not so successful, but I was still riding the high of Saturday to care. We made cupcakes to celebrate.

Notice the chocolate on Violet's face after Jeremy gave her a random kiss.
My girl is 7 weeks old and has finally begun to smile in earnest at her mom, dad, and brother. She smiles when I sing to her (don't laugh, Danielle), when Brian does anything, and when Jeremy gives her trains. And, I realized yesterday, she saves her biggest smiles for Mickey and Minnie. We bought these two on our honeymoon and they caught Violet's eye when she was playing on Jeremy's bed, I think due to the bold colors rather than the normal pastels of the other animals. She was smitten!

I still think her first love is Jeremy, though. She seriously will follow him all around the room with her eyes and pumps her arms and legs like she is trying to fly out of her seat when he talks to her.
I suppose it is getting redundant at this point, but I do love these kiddos to pieces.
Me? Laugh at your singing? Why would I do such a thing? Our "What You Own" covers in your car could rival Adam and Anthony.
ReplyDeleteGo Jeremy and I'm so glad that Violet loves her some Disney. We need to figure out which Princess is her favorite. Mom will have a cow if it's Sleeping Beauty.
I love that she loves Mickey and MInnie! So cute!
ReplyDeleteAnd, you are doing great with the potty...Lily didn't walk until 18 months and people loved to give me advice that worked for THEIR kid and be smug about their stupid kid being faster at everything, like I was purposely keeping her from walking. I have totally learned in the parenting world that it is about one percent what I do and 99 percent what she wants to do. Haha. Plus, I maybe biased, but stubborn kids are totally smarter, anyway. Yay for some success and poop in the potty!
It is never redundant to say you love them & share awesome pictures with us!! I love her grin!! I am already dreading the potty business & Anderson is only 18 months old. Of course, because Lily was so successful, I will have an 8 year old in pull ups. The 2 of them literally do everything opposite. Love the pics!
ReplyDeleteViolet is a girl after my own heart. I can't wait until you bring the little ones down to visit the mouse! Glad you are doing well and can not wait to see you and meet Violet this football season. We need to catch up soon! PS - This is Emily :)
ReplyDeleteIt is my most objective opinion that these two young ones are seriously cute. It seems they will be the best of friends.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the potty success. The next big thing on the checklist of a child's milestones is puberty. Enjoy the interim.
